After going on strike for 148 days, the Writers Guild of America officially ratified a three-year contract deal with major studios on Monday morning. This Vox video outlines the leading causes of the strike in early May of this year.

Late Night Shows
The first television shows to return with new episodes since the ending of the writers’ strike are late-night television talk shows. These shows can operate without interfering with the still ongoing strike between SAG-AFTRA and major studios.
SAG-AFTRA Continues to Strike
Despite the WGA having settled a deal, the Actors union continues in its efforts to negotiate a new contract with major studios. This means there likely won’t be a real return to new television shows or movies until the actors can return to work.
